Trusted Platform Module (TPM) software

Hardware-based security has significant advantages over security implemented through software alone. The Trusted Platform Module (TPM) is a microcontroller usually installed on the motherboard of a PC or laptop designed to provide basic security-related functions, create cryptographic keys and digital certificates. The TPM has been specified and designed by the Trusted Computing Group (TCG), formerly Trusted Computing Platform Alliance (TCPA). This group brings together the major companies such as HP, IBM, Intel and Microsoft. The first TCG specification was released in 2001 under the version number 1.1. Today this specification meets the version 1.2 and comes with numerous enhancements made to increase the security level of the Trusted Platforms by making in the meantime easier the way to handle such platforms. Now drawn by Microsoft and his new operating system Windows Vista which leverage on TPM 1.2 functionalities, this market knows an incredible expansion and most of the PC makers get more an more involved in the TCG. That is why today OSTOR is delighted to have the chance to be the exclusive STMicroelectronics distributor for TPM in Great China. STMicroelectronics is the first player to have launched on the market a TPM 1.2 compliant, and up to now STMicroelectronics and OSTOR have shipped several millions of units to the main PC actors. As a value-added reseller, OSTOR is glad to provide customers with very good services, including:- efficient technical support- on-site expertise- TPM 1.2 samples
