Support

After a successful registration in the system, the administrator of the eyetrace web-server is able to monitor the user behavior. Important information such as login time or sign up attempts, the interaction with the map engine or the result of trace requests are automatically stored in the systems log files.

System Monitoring

Each user is able to link multiple devices with his account by providing the device phone number. During his interaction with the eyetrace system, the user is able to change devices and to request new traces for the new device.

Account Management

In addition the user may request detailed directions between the latest 25 traces. Turn-by-turn directions are displayed next to the map.

All positions are stored in the eyetraces database and the user may choose an arbitrary position to be displayed on the map. Following information is stored: Coordinates, Timestamp, Address, Direction and Speed.

More specifically, the system allows users to sign up online by making use of an activation code. Activation codes are stored in the database of the eyetrace server. The system stores for each user required information for tracking purposes such as user name, password, name, e-mail etc. The user during the registration process should provide a valid activation code in order to create the account.

The software system is based on a low-cost usage by the users and therefore the cost is calculated by each trace a user performs through the website hosting the eyetrace server. The cost of requesting a position (i.e. trace) is exactly that of an SMS message. No more costs are needed in order to use the system. However, it is up to the buyers responsibility to charge extra cost for using the service.

How it works

The EYETRACE Standard Edition server is able to handle a large amount of concurrent trace requests coming from different users throughout the internet. The EYETRACE Standard Edition combines three innovative technologies: the mobile phone network GSM, the Global Positioning System GPS and the Internet. The position of the tracking device is transmitted to the server in real-time, which is responsible to listen for possible requests and to maintain positioning information. The web-based GPS tracking server eyetrace is used to visualize the positioning information via a map application (e.g. Google Maps) and to serve as a service for new trace request.
