The ASV5211 is a highly integrated transport stream USB microcontroller designed for applications such like the USB digital television (DTV) receivers. With its dual-channel MPEG2 Transport stream inputs, the ASV5211 is able to receive two Transport Streams simultaneously from dual tuner/demodulator to perform the function of watching one program while recording another, or Picture In Picture (PIP). ASV5211's channel filter removes the data packets of the undesired programs in the Transport Stream of the selected channel using the PID filtering technology to minimize the bandwidth required for delivering the transport stream. The streaming controller ensures a smooth streaming between the demodulator and the MPEG-2 decoder to avoid the annoying frame drop or freezing effect in the video. All these processes enable the embedded USB controller of ASV5211 to deliver the transport stream, by taking the least possible bandwidth, to the USB host (e.g. the personal computer) via USB 1.1 (SDTV) or 2.0 (SDTV and HDTV)
