The ADSL subsystem handles all the physical aspects of the ADSL, including line coding, error correction, and interfacing with the 2- or 4-wire local loop. The ADSL subsystem includes the following

DMT: T1.413, G.992.1, G.992.2, G.992.3, G.992.5 with auto-detection
ADSL2+ Subsystem
Supports up to 8 Virtual Channel Connections (VCCs)
Supports UBR, GFR, CBR, and VBR service classes
Provides ATM layer functionality (per I.361)
Provides adaptation layer (AAL5) functionality (per I.363.5)
Performs the traffic shaping and scheduling per ATM port
Supports PPP encapsulation over ATM (PPPoA) and PPP over Ethernet (PPPoE)

Voice gateway between POTS telephones and VoIP
Incoming and outgoing calls can be routed over either the PSTN or VoIP, with PSTN switching for up to two FXS ports
Support for SIP protocols
Voice processing functions including asymmetric selection of voice codecs (G.711, G.726, G.729ab)
