Cost Transparency
Knowledge about communications costs is an important factor for the economical running of a business. With integrated accounting for ISDN calls and IP data traffic, the call costs generated by
XCENTRIC are easily broken down and different areas or users can be classified.
Unified Messaging
With this technology, all messages, such as e-mails, faxes, voice mails, SMS messages etc., are displayed via a single user interface.
It is thus no longer necessary to start several applications for different services, and to have to switch between them. By simply clicking in the Unified Messaging application, the corresponding
programs for the different services can be started and their contents can be read and processed.
Computer Telephony Integration
XCENTRIC provides the small office with access to computer telephony integration services more easily by being a self-contained system.
This allows the user to dial directly from a database, for example, and allows screen popping to automatically display caller's details when the phone is answered. As voice and data networks become
more integrated, CTI technology will be an increasingly important influence on small office communications.
ISDN Interfaces
To access the public network, XCENTRIC is optimised for use with ISDN interfaces, with which all services can be reached. ISDN is the norm for PABX connections and provides rapid connection times,
high bandwidth for data transmission, optimal voice quality and highest availability.
The Internet and Virtual Private Networks
All XCENTRIC users can be provided with Internet access. The security of corporate data is ensured by the inclusion of BinTec's SAFERNET@ technology. This allows the administrator to provide secure
logins, and consruct a perimeter defence between the office LAN and the outside world.
For even higher security demands, XCENTRIC can construct a Virtual Private Network, i.e. a tunnel through the Internet, in which the data is transferred in encrypted form.
Application Services
Besides the traditional transmission of data between workstations, servers and printers, the use of integrated communication services in the modern office environment is increasingly widespread.
E-mail, fax, voice mail and accessing services such as file transfer, online banking, and e-commerce are all becoming essential business processes.
XCENTRIC integrates these services using an application layer interface which extends ISDN services to the desktop.
