Firmware Upgradeable to Support Better ADSL Standards
Firmware inside the DSL-500T can be upgraded to support new DSL standards, including ADSL2, ADSL2+ and reach extended ADSL2 (RE-ADSL2), providing better speeds, longer distance coverage, reduced
power consumption while maintaining ADSL always-on functionality. This allows you to take advantages of the higher speeds and functions when the new standards become available from your service
provider, without changing your existing ADSL hardware or installation.
DMZ Host to Open Public Domain
You can configure any of the built-in LAN switch ports to function as a DMZ port. A DMZ setting can be applied to a single client (such as a Web server) behind the router to fully expose it to the
Internet and ensure complete Internet application compatibility even if the specific port is not known. This allows you to set up web sites and ecommerce business from your office while maintaining
protection for the rest of your office LAN.
Network Security
The router provides NAT protection for your office and home users from any Internet intruders and hackers, plus VPN pass-through for extra security. It also blocks and redirects certain ports to
limit the services that outside users can access your network. Virtual Server Mapping is used to re-task services to multiple servers. The router can be set to allow separate FTP, Web, and
Multiplayer game servers to share the same Internet-visible IP address while still protecting your servers and workstations from hackers.
Built-in High-Speed Wireless LAN
The router also provides an 802.11g high-speed wireless LAN for ready connection to wireless users. At up to 54Mbps, the wireless LAN compares favorably with the 11Mbps speed of 802.11b. In
addition to providing 54Mbps rate when operating with 802.11g wireless users, the router is also compatible with existing 802.11b wireless devices. Consequently, you may sacrifice some of the
router high speed when you mix with your existing 802.11b devices, but you will not lose any ability to communicate.
Built-in ADSL Interface and Ethernet Switch Ports
A standard-based ADSL modem in built into this router, making connection to the Internet a breeze. The router also incorporates four 10/100Mbps Ethernet switch ports, providing ready connection for
workstations and servers, while saving you the cost and trouble of installing a separate Ethernet switch.
Simplified, Cost-saving Broadband Internet Connection
With this router, you can easily share your ADSL broadband line in your office or at home. To let everybody logon, this device automatically creates and assigns an IP number for each user,
simplifying everyone logon operation.
