Supplying power to communications equipment over existing telephone lines. Providing a cost effective power supply is a primary concern in deploying DSLAMs in remote locations. ECIs patented RLP System allows operators to supply power to communications equipment up to 4 km from the Central Office (CO) over existing telephone lines. The RLP system avoids the cost, regulatory implications and related safety issues of installing power lines.Most deployed cabinets have spare copper pairs on the drop from the central office. The RLP Feeder provides power over individual pairs completely independent of each other to an RLP Cabinet Unit. This aggregates the power to a stable 48V output.
