The beautiful dried stems of the tajonal flower have for centuries been used by the Maya to construct their corn cribs. This yellow jungle blossom produces some of the world's finest honey. When
the bees are finished, the bloom fades and the stem of the flower hardens with strong, delicate ridges. We arrange for local indigenous Indians to roam the jungle picking these six-foot stems. Stem
diameter varies, but averages perhaps three-eighths of an inch.
We have taught the Mayans to weave the stems tightly together with threads of black weather-resistant multifilament nylon spaced about two inches apart. The top and bottom of the curtains are Iron
Bamboo. Curtains are fitted with stainless steel and bronze pulleys so that they easily roll up with the tug of a cord.
Light, strong and totally natural, tajonal roll-up sections are often used as room dividers and wall coverings as well as curtains.
Tajonal curtains are priced by width and length. For example, a curtain 12 to 24 in. wide and 36 in. to 42 in. long costs $77.40. A curtain 60 in. to 72 in. wide and 108 in. to 120 in. long costs
$545.40. All prices include all hardware and are made to order. Prices are FOB Gulfport, Mississippi. Tajonal shades/blinds weigh about .737 lbs. per sq. ft. Send us the approximate dimensions of
the windows or other space you wish to cover and we will give you a "no obligation" quote.
