The new Bow-Tie? Locking Cotter Pin from Pivot Point works like a Hair Pin cotter, but locks itself on! A simple but definite action releases the cotter, though it cannot be accidentally knocked or vibrated off. It can be used regardless of the hole position, and replaces other traditional cotter pins in a variety of applications. It is reusable, speeds assembly time, reduces liability and offers secure fastening with ease of removal. The Bow-Tie? Locking cotter snaps into a locked position by either pushing or pulling it into the hole. Once locked, the cotter is not under constant tension as with Hair Pin or Hitch Pin cotters and clips. This zero tension state reduces wire fatigue and improves service life. If positioned in a hole near the end of a shaft, the cotter stays locked even if flipped over the end and to the other side of the shaft. The distance it protrudes from the shaft is the same as with a standard Hair Pin Cotter. The curved cotter leg provides 3 contact points with the hole, keeping the cotter snug. The flat plane of the cotter means higher density bulk storage without part tangling. Available in sizes to fit 1/4" through 1/2" shafts. Made from MB spring wire with an attractive zinc plated finish. Bow-Tie Locking Cotter Pin catalog page. Call or e-mail Larger sizes under development.
