The construction of this is known familiarly as basketweave. In reality, it is a counter batten configuration comprising at least three layers of highly flexible southern US softwood battens, placed on top of each other at right angles. The intermediate layer acts as a spring to the top layer which is laid at the centre of the span formed by the intermediate layer over the bottom layer. Theoretically the more intermediate layers incorporated in a basketweave floor the more flexible it becomes, but the principle of diminishing returns applies and in reality the extra expense and thickness outweigh the practicality. In the Harlequin WoodSpring system shock absorption and energy return are enhanced by elastomer pads attached to the underside of the bottom layer.

Studio protects against hard sub-floors, but is still light enough to be portable for touring. Available in black or grey, Studio also helps to reduce noise while offering a slip-resistant surface. Reversible - the classic double-sided flooring for dance and stage.With a different colour on the reverse, there are 7 combinations to choose from, each quick to roll out and lay flat to provide aslip-resistant dance surface. Cascade - the 'ideal' surface for ballet, jazz and contemporary dance, Cascade is suitable for both temporary and permanent installation and is extremely resistant to wear. The surface provides a perfect 'feel' - silky soft without any hint of being slippery. Allegro - a floor especially developed by Harlequin to offer superb protection against hard sub floors. The thickest roll-out floor available. Allegro can be laid onto a very hard surface, such as concrete, to provide a semi-sprung performance surface.
