Wenge wood has many names. It is known as palissandre d'Afrique, palissandre du Congo, African/Congolese Rosewood, Faux Ebenier, Dikela, Mibotu, Bokonge, Awong, Nson-So or Tshikalakala. It comes from a tropical wenge tree - Millettia Laurentii. Wenge wood is sought after because of its exquisite appearance and durability. Heartwood is dark, brown or almost black, with a pattern of dark veins intertwined with fine white lines. There is very little color variation between boards. Additionally, wenge is highly resistant to attrition and weather. It is unique in every detail and will still please Your eyes after many years to come.
