Romag glass floor panels have been installed for many different applications including dance floors, stair treads, landings, corridors and even externally on access roofs. For the majority of applications laminated floor panels are normally constructed from two layers of float glass laminated with PVB which should be supported on all four edges. The support structure should have a bearing surface of at least 1 x the thickness of the glass. In certain situations the glass may have to be heat tempered as well as laminated if, for example, the glass is to have a ceramic frit applied or if it is impractical to have a fully supported structure. Glass Thickness The glass thickness and construction will vary depending upon the application and design loading. The glass will be PVB laminated glass normally consisting of two or more layers of annealed or heat strengthened glass. Slip Resistance Glass is a very strong and resilient material but if the surface is allowed to get wet it becomes very slippery. Romag have therefore developed a product which remains slip resistant even when wet and is therefore ideal for outdoor or indoor use. Slip resistance is measured in accordance with BS 8204 Part 3: 1993 Section C. Slip resistance is achieved by the application of a specially developed frit applied to the upper surface of the floor panels. The design of the frit is usually a dot matrix pattern of 8mm dia dots although other designs can be accommodated to meet clients specific requirements. ColourThe standard frit colour is Grey but other RAL colours can also be accommodated to suit architects individual design requirements. SealantSeals between panels to be formed with two part polysulphide or silicone - please ensure that sealants are compatible with the polyvinyl butyral (PVB) interlayer. Bedding StripThe bedding strip between the glass and supporting structure should be of sufficient density to avoid excessive compression with a minimum thickness of 6mm.
