What is commercial quality stone?When we place an order with our producer for, lets say, 800sq/m of a particular limestone tile in 1st quality, the quarry may have to produce 1100 sq/m to give us our 800sq/m order in selected stone.This provides us with a high end hand picked stone that allows us to guarantee quality to our customer.So what happens to the extra 300sq/m that didnt make it?A proportion of this amount is not saleable and this is sent to be broken down for use in other areas of the building industry.But that might leave us with 200sq/m of a product that is too good to crush up but just isnt quite good enough to sell as 1st quality. Its all been cut and finished to the same high standard as the 1st quality product, but the stone itself isnt quite consistent enough to be sold as the highest standard available.There will be some shading differences and the content of fossilisation may well be patchy, but other than that it still has the same structural integrity and natural beauty of any stone tile.We buy this stone into stock and sell it at a flat rate of ?22.50 per sq/m + vat no matter how large the order (with a minimum order of 1 pallet).
