This marble is a precious mineral used since the time of the Romans to give opulence and prestige to cities, it had its greatest use after the year 1000, used for building churches and sacred works (the Duomo di Carrara, Il Duomo and the Baptistery of Pisa), flooring and decoration of buildings. This marble always tells us stories of men, who, with hard work, dig the mineral from the rock and those with genius and creativity able to shape forms from huge blocks. Rich in white light "the luster of marble, the color that challenge the intact snow" enhances the lights and shadows, creating a sensitive and passionate figure of rare beauty. Surely the man who knew how to better enhance the benefits of this cold mineral was Michelangelo Buonarroti that lived for 3 years in Versilia to personally monitor the work of extraction from the quarry, still active, who takes his own name.
