Jerusalem stone

Jerusalem stone is quarried from the hills surrounding .It is the same material that was used to build the ancient city ofJerusalem. It is easy to work with, highly dense and has a very lowwater absorption rate, making it favorable building material fromancient times to the present. During British Mandate rule of Jerusalem(1917 - 1948) Governor Sir Ronald Storrs enforced the use of Jerusalemstone in all types of construction in order to preserve the uniquecharacter of the city. It is a practice that continues to the presentday.
