NAME: GUIBORTIA COLEOSPERMA
COMMON NAME: AFRICAN ROSEWOOD
The wood colour is light red/maroon/pink. It is veined with pink or red stripes. When exposed to the sun, the timber dries to a orange to auburn colour. Please see enclosed
photo for an example of Rosewood logs that have been left in the sun. The wood weighs 900kg/m3 when dry. I am mainly concentrating on the supply of this timber. It is highly in
demand in the Far East due to its auspicious colour and natural grain. The timber is extremely beautiful when finished and has a dark red to maroon appearance. I can export around 60
cubic meters per month of this variety.
NAME: AFZELIA QUANZENSIS
COMMON NAME: AFRICAN MAHOGANY OR POD MAHOGANY
The colour of this timber varies from reddish peach to a light honey. The grain is figured and interlocked. The dry weight is around 800kg/m3. It is used for home furnitures and
joinery. The wood is attractive both due to its colour and the natural grain which shows through polished furniture. I can export 45 cubic meters per month.

Maximum Width of Planks: 60cm
Minimum Width of Planks: 10cm
Average Width of Planks: 25cm
Thickness of Planks: As per buyers order, but generally 2,5cm (1 inch)
The sawn planks are not plained or kiln dried.
The planks are packed in bundles and sorted according to lengths.
All export timber is fumigated and a phytosantiary certificate must be obtained from the local authorities.
All Export Grade planks must be straightened, all sapwood and bark must be sawn off and removed, cracked, discoloured or warped planks must be removed, and the timber must be certified
by the Zambia Timber Association as being Export Grade.
