The Rubber tree is planted primarily for rubber production.
However, the tree ceases to product latex at an economic
level after about 25-30 years. Such plantations  are then
cleared and prepared for replanting. The wood from these
trees is popularly known as Rubberwood (Hevea brasiliensis), 
and can be used for manufacturing  a very wide range of 
products.  As plantations are systematically replanted over
a 25-30 year cycle, the timber  resource is sustainable
managed and an environment friendly wood. Rubberwood 
plantations have a life span of about 25 years.The trees are
then harvested  and the land is replanted with rubberwood 
seedlings. Over the last 40 years the world's plantation stock 
has almost doubled, principally in the Asian region. It is 
a successful replacement for tropical forest timbers

Rubber tree plantations have
been used mainly for the production
of latex. After the economic life of
the rubber tree, which is generally
30 years, the latex yields become 
extremely low,the planters then
fell the rubber trees and regenerate new 
ones. This eco-friendly Rubberwood
(Hevea brasiliensis) is an excellent
timber to use for furniture and 
components.Rubberwood is a light
hardwood. When freshly cut, its
colour ranges from very pale yellow
to white and seasons to a creamy  
shade with a slight tinge of pink.
