MELAWOOD APPLICATIONS

Standard woodworking tools and machines work well on Melawood. When cutting by hand, ensure that the decorative surface is uppermost, and that a fine tooth crosscut saw is used to achieve a clean cut. When using a portable electric saw, a fine tooth saw blade must be used, and the blade should not protrude above the work piece. For industrial applications, use of tungsten carbide tipped saws and cutters are recommended, and for best results, a fine tooth saw blade with a backing plate on the machine base should be used to prevent chip-out.

WORKING WITH MELAWOOD

Finishing off your dream design with the right edging is important and Melawood may be matched to a wide variety of commercially available edging, including foil, timber, flexible or rigid PVC, Formica Laminates, or metal trims. Surfaces and edges can also be integrated to form alternating colour effects and patterns.

EDGING

Not only is Melawood available in a variety of wonderful shades, but we at PG Bison also offer it in three tactile finishes.; Peen, a textured stippled surface; Executive - a smoother glossier finish: Ashwood - an embossed wood grain surface.

FINISHES

Melawood is the perfect way to achieve today's lifestyle look without costing the earth. It is a high quality melamine faced board. It comprises a single layer of melamine-impregnated decorative paper, fused under heat and pressure to both sides of a smooth surface. This surface is either BisonBord or SupaWood.
