Our research programs, conducted over a broad spectrum of alternative sanitation solutions, locally and internationally, present us with only one conclusion namely that these solutions were (1) to complex in design,  (2) to expensive and (3) installation and post installation costs were excessive. The solution the African Sanitation waterless, chemical free, DIY, low maintenance, environmentally friendly and self contained toilet, the COMPOSTER. DESIGNAdopting the same technology principles and enshrining natures processes, but also simplifying and redefining the concept of composting toilets, we designed our high class, and of international standard, but affordable waterless composting toilet system to be as simple, acceptable, affordable and economical sanitation alternative to current and costly water borne sanitation systems. The COMPOSTER is simple, yet durable, aesthetically acceptable in design, of high quality, affordable and easily maintained most of all a sanitation solution that can be easily relocated if and when the need should arise. APPLICATIONMany Africans either live in the bush, emergency or temporary housing conditions where they seldom have access drinking water, let alone access to basic sanitation solutions Thus they are faced with issues such as poor health and safety issues every day. They need not to. The introduction of the COMPOSTER not only presents an acceptable sanitation solution, but creates a safe and healthy environment allowing for dignity for all. . We have designed a range of various self-contained (for more) , individually owned and fully transportable toilet units that can be supplied to each family in need of one, wherever they are, and in whatever living conditions they find themselves. INSTALLATIONInstallation of the units is minimalised and could be done by the owners or the community themselves with a Saturday mornings effort. THE LARGER PICTUREInstead of the Government having to laboriously install expensive water borne sanitation systems, in the various new housing schemes planned, our units could simply be provided to the broader population wherever they are, for they are easily installed and maintained. As such the supply of new toilet facilities are separated from the provision of housing issue. Toilet facilities can be provided in a relative short term period to everyone in need of one. It is a sad fact that the less impoverished among our people will use approximately 10 liters of perfectly clean and pure drinking water to wash away 100 ml of urine. Unknown.
