- It is the most economical insulation material.
- It is very light. Easy to carry and use.
- Since it's voids are filled with trapped air, it can not be saturated.
- It is dimensionally stable under pressure. As density increases, its compressive strength
- increases as well.
- It is recyclable. No environmental concerns when being produced and used.
- It is performance lasts lifelong.
- In accordance with DIN 4102, it is produced to meet the requirements of Fire Class B1 or B2
- It does not mold, rot and stink.
- It is not detrimental to health.
Advantages
- For basement walls below grade (to protect water insulation materials and as thermal insulation)
- For external insulation of existing and new walls
- Especially for internal insulation of existing walls
- At external sandwich wall construction, between two brick walls
- At pitched roofs; between, below and above the rafters
- At roof terraces (materials with higher densities are preferred because they have higher compressive strengths)
- For ceiling insulation in attics
- Insulation of cold-storage rooms and depots
- For pitched roofs of industrial buildings
- For insulated composite panels
- For expansion joints and gutters
- For rib and tile floor fillings
- For decoration and carton-pierre works
- Under parquet floors/wood floors
- For roof and wall insulation of chicken farming and cattle breeding houses
- For packaging
- Insulation of cold-storage cars used for transportation of plants, fruits and vegetables
- Used in advertising sector
Areas of Use
Today energy sources are running out rapidly and energy prices are increasing all over the world. This rapid changes shows the importance of energy savings and thermal insulation. Since the 80% of the energy consumed at homes today, is used for heating purposes, preventing heat losses can make a big difference in energy cost savings. With insulation use, heating and cooling expenses are reduced. If insulation design is taken into consideration when constructing new buildings, then the costs of the heating and cooling systems will be reduced. With thermal insulation use, dampness in buildings can also be eliminated. As the more people are educated about thermal insulation, the more insulation materials will be used. Economical thermal insulation board, EPS, with its high quality performance, is the most consumed insulation material.r.
Thermal Insulation and EPS
Expanded polystyrene (EPS) is produced from a mixture of polystyrene, which is a thermoplastic material manufactured from a petroleum product, and a gaseous, blowing agent pentane. With the help of pentane and through the use of steam, polystyrene is expanded to turn into a foam and takes the shape of the form used. Through this process, pentane replaces inside air. The void filled with trapped air, gives EPS panel a low thermal conductivity and therefore makes it a good insulation material.
