Corvid Radiant Wall System

The interior layer of the Corvid Radiant Wall System? is poured with radiant tubes to allow the passage of hot or cold water to course through the wall. The interior of the structure now becomes an extremely efficient thermal mass for storing hot or cold energy. Nothing beats concrete for its ability to store energy in the form of heat or cold. The most efficient way to heat the wall is through the use of hot water solar panels or a geothermal heat pump system. A standard hot water boiler can be used for augmentation when needed. To cool the walls in hot climates, a simple geothermal loop can be placed in the ground to cool the water running through the wall. For the cost of running a few small pumps, any building can more easily maintain a cooler temperature inside.

The THERMOMASS? insulation system is revolutionary in its own right. This form of sandwich wall insulation was developed over thirty years ago and has been used in over 100 million square feet of poured in place, tilt-up, and precast concrete construction. The properties of the Dow Styrofoam insulation make it perfect for use in concrete. The THERMOMASS? synthetic pin system for attaching the two layers of concrete together eliminates any thermal bridging between the outside and inside layers of concrete, creating the most energy efficient sandwich wall available today.

A form liner can be applied to the outside layer of concrete during manufacturing to resemble any number of veneer finishes. The outer layer may also be acid stained at the plant prior to delivery. The exterior layer may also be finished after the wall is installed. Almost any type of exterior finish can be applied. For example, stucco applied at the job site generally costs half as much as stucco applied over a wood structure such as SIPS panels. The stucco can be directly applied to the concrete eliminating the need for felt and chicken wire.

The Corvid Radiant Wall System? is a new technology based on the tried and true insulated, concrete sandwich panel which has been proven efficient over the last thirty years. Our wall consists of 3 to 4 inches of exterior concrete, 2 to 3 inches of THERMOMASS? Dow Styrofoam insulation, and 4 to 6 inches of interior heated or cooled concrete. The thicknesses of each layer may be changed to suit the specific needs of each project.
