13. How can I accelerate the drying time? One can use a fan to accelerate the curing time. However, do not use kerosene heaters as they emit moisture into the air and will slow down the curing process.

12. When should the wall be sheetrocked and closed up? Drying conditions will vary with the time of year and air temperature. The cavity should not be covered until the moisture level or content is below 19%. This can be measured with a moisture meter.

11. What if the density is greater than 4.20 pcf? This will not affect the wall rating.

10. What if monitoring indicates the dry density will be less than 4.20 pcf? Go back to the last location where monitoring indicated a minimum 4.20 dry density and compress the material. Respray from that location in order to increase the dry density to a minimum of 4.20 pcf.

9. How do I know if 4.20 pounds per square foot (pcf) minimum dry density of FTI-2H FIREWALL has been achieved? Similar to FTI SATAC Commercial cellulose insulation, each bag of FTI-2H FIREWALL has a specific coverage. The dry coverage for FTI-2H FIREWALL is 9.0 square feet per bag. Contractors should continually monitor the wall footage sprayed with the bags used to calculate the installed dry density.

8. Can the drywall be installed horizontally? No. The product was tested with the drywall installed in a vertical orientation. It is important the drywall seams are centered over studs which isnt practical in a horizontal installation.

7. What materials are needed for a two hour firewall using FTI-2H FIREWALL? FTI-2H FIREWALL cellulose insulation, thick Type C sheetrock, standard bearing plates, joints, screwheads and 2X4 wood studs are required.

6. Does the wall structure require four layers of Type X sheetrock, fire caulk, or other firestop material? No. The insulation material meets the required standard for a two hour rating based upon its chemical formula, concentration and installed density. Other materials commonly associated with a two hour firewall structure are not required.

5. Can we use FTI standard cellulose insulation in lieu of FTI-2H FIREWALL? No. Only FTI-2H FIREWALL has been tested and passed this standard. FTI standard cellulose insulation contains a lower chemical load than our FTI-2H FIREWALL product, thus may not meet the required standards for a two hour firewall.

4. What standard does this product meet? This product meets ASTM E119-07a, Fire Resistance Tests-Elements of Building Construction. This is identical or very similar to the following UL 263, UBC 7-1, ANSI A2.1, NFPA 251, ISO-834, BS 476 Pt20, EN 1363-1, ULC S101.

3. Has this structure been accepted by other code officials? Yes. To name a few, it has been approved by code officials in Atlanta Georgia and Columbus, Ohio.

2. Has this product been tested by a certified third party? If so, what is the Report Number? Yes. The product was tested by Intertek Testing Services, Elmendorf, Texas. The report number is 3132554-1,2 dated November 29, 2007.
