The Canon IXUS 990 IS has a light, compact design that slips easily into a pocket or purse. With a resolution of 12.1 megapixels, you can turn photos into poster-size prints, or creatively crop images without losing the detail necessary for larger prints. A 5x optical zoom lens with Canons optical Image Stabiliser works to deliver blur-free results throughout the zoom range of 37 to 185mm (35mm equivalent). The IXUS 990 IS also comes with a host of exciting features which include Smart Auto, Anti-blur with Motion Detection Technology, Face Detection, i-Contrast and HD video recording. Of note are Face Detection Technology (up to 35 faces in a shot) and its extended feature, the FaceSelf-Timer, which takes a shot when an extra face is detected in the frame. The IXUS 990 IS can determine the movement of both the camera and the subject along with the speed at which this motion occurs using a range of advanced methods thanks to its Motion Detection Technology. The optimum ISO is then automatically set to give you the best results. With the IXUS 990 IS, you can create smooth, high quality movies in high definition (1280x720, 30fps) and then connect the optional HDMI cable for playback on HD widescreen TVs. You can frame and review shots with the large, bright 3.0-inch PureColor LCD II (461k dots) of the IXUS 990 IS which allows comfortable viewing in high resolutions.
