The LY family of portable camera / illuminators brings the technology of Automated License Plate Recognition (ALPR) systems to a mobile application platform.These new purpose-engineered imaging devices address the needs of parking, law enforcement and facilities management. Most current solutions require the manual entry of license plate information, a process that is slow and error prone. With the introduction of the LY there is a solution which allows license plate information to be read and recorded as you drive past a vehicle, or when a vehicle drives past you, with the added benefit of a visual record of every plate read by the system.INEX/ZAMIR has applied the technology advancements of the HY high speed imaging device to the new LY family to create a high performance and yet very portable unit that delivers the quality images necessary for high accuracy ALPR. Every LY unit employs an integral infrared LED light source, thereby eliminating the need for any supplemental lighting. Models have been engineered for different tasks, and will provide effective operation at varying distances from imager to target." The LY has been designed with parking lot inventory and on-street parking in mind and works at speeds below 25 miles per hour (32 km/h) in either day or night time conditions." The LY brings the added benefit of pulsed illumination resulting allowing for license plate capture at higher vehicle speeds, greater distances and greater dynamic range of lighting conditions.
