The new models feature enhanced Face Detect AiAF Technology capable of tracking up to 9 faces. Even for faces in profile or turned at an angle which were once difficult to detect, they can now be quickly identified by the cameras and tracked. The camera can track on an individual in the composition and optimize the focus, white balance, flash and exposure setting, ensuring the best portraits with the most natural and smooth skin tone. Furthermore, through Auto Red-eye Correction function, the cameras can automatically detect "red eyes" in portrait shots and correct them accurately and instantaneously through built-in recovering system during shooting or image playback.

DIGITAL IXUS 100 IS is only 18.4mm in thickness, making it the slimmest digital compact camera in Digital IXUS series and perfect pop-in-the-bag shooter.

Complement with DIGIC 4 Digital Image Processor, DIGITAL IXUS 100 IS supports H.264 codec movie shooting, recording MOV format movie at 30fps and 1280 x 720 resolutions. The file size of H.264 codec MOV format movie is only equivalent to 60% of the normal AVI format. High image quality is maintained while optimizing file size compression.

The new DIGITAL IXUS 100 IS is equipped with ultra-high 12.1-megapixel CCD image sensor. Users can record the most detailed and impeccable images for A2 size or above photo printings. The ultra-high megapixel resolution is capable for capturing the tiniest detail in noise-reduced clarity.
