Since 1999, HanbitSofts PC game department has been growing rapidly with games like StarCraft and Diablo 2. With these games, HanbitSoft broke all the market sales records which became new standards for Korean game industry. In April 2000, sales of StarCraft exceeded 120 million copies and it was recorded on the Guinness for the first time as a game. Starcrafts record breaking sales number also affected Korean IT industry in overall. With its mega success came PC bangs (Internet cafes) which brought about high speed internet to mass public. StarCraft even created a new economy term, Starcnomic. Diablo 2 was also a huge hit that brought rapid growth in Koreas IT infra. With this success, HanbitSoft accomplished net profit of 14 billion KRW in 2001 and went on to be listed in KOSDAQ in 2002. After 7 years of its launch, StarCraft is still number one PC game title in Korea with over 400,000 copies being sold per year.
