Light Controlled Stepped Tone Generator

Push the start button and slowly move your hand up and down over the lens. The sound you hear will change as the amount of light hitting the lens varies. How it works! The device in the center of the lens is a photoresister. It is connected to a sound synthesizer. The photoresister is coated with light sensitive chemicals that conduct more electricity when exposed to light and less electricity when denied light. They are used in automatic light controls, parts counters, light probes for the blind, and many other devices. This is a photo resistor exhibit. This exhibit shows how photo resistive materials can be used to control electronic devices by illustrating the principle through musical notes. Children respond with enthusiasm as they wave their hands up and down over the device and it seems to magically create sounds. The exhibit is simple to use, fun and educational. The exhibit is started by pushing a button which actives the tone generator for a specified time duration. The text supplied on the exhibit discusses the theory and applications for the technology. The exhibit requires one 120 V AC grounded socket or optional solar power system at additional cost. It is available in a wide variety of colors. Price $1,600.oo US plus shipping and crating. Please allow 8 weeks for fabrication and delivery.
