- On April 1st, 1961 August Meyer established a small company in D?rentrup-Humfeld in central Germany. He started to manufacture small fittings for the local furniture industry consisting of
both metal and plastic. Products such as the first plastic ball-casters for furniture date from this time. The company continued to manufacture these products until the early eighties.
Exploring new opportunities and based on the expertise of August Meyer the company ventured into manufacturing of fluorescent lamps and multiple socket outlets for office furniture and facility management from 1982 on. Until now the company's business has expanded in this area constantly.
In September 1986 the company was transformed into a private corporation with limited liability ("GmbH"). Horst Meyer, the present chairman of the then newly registered A. & H. MEYER GmbH and son of August Meyer?s, took over the management of the company. It was still based in Humfeld. Under Horst Meyers management the company developed into a medium sized enterprise, currently employing about 100 employees worldwide. In 2000 a subsidiary was established in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The name of A. & H. MEYER GmbH stands for the high quality of our products. Since 1994 we are certified ISO 9002. Our goal is to maintain the utmost flexibility in order to incorporate the latest developments into our products. Even though being a relatively small firm, A. & H. MEYER exports its products all over the world.
