Pure low density ply ethylene polymer is a compound of carbon and hydrogen which forms a long flexible chain. These chains, being independent, are thermoplastic in nature and are cross linked by
chemical method. It is then converted into a three dimensional network which prevents the slippage between the molecular chains. The material thereby becomes thermosetting. It assumes an elastic,
rubber-like consistency, a property which is retains during a rise in temperature wherein it becomes carbonized without melting at about 300 degrees centigrade. The tendency towards stress cracking
has entirely disappeared and the material has also acquires resistance to ageing in warm atmospheric conditions.
