The Siemens process was designed for the manufacture of semiconductors, a process that requires a highly pure grade of Silicon. In contrast, the Solar Cell industry requires a fundamentally
different type of Silicon.
In order to produce 1 KG of S.G.S., the electricity consumption based on Siemens process is 100-200KWH, MutoSilicon's process only needs 21KWH! Most importantly, Siemens process some
times involved with contaminating issues due to its toxic disposals. MutoSilicon process is a totally clean procedure, recycling every bi-products, close to
Zero-Contamination.
The reason that Solar Cell manufacturers keep using these Siemens materials, is because there is no substitute, so far the only alternative close to the Solar Cell purity requirement
is the Upgraded Metallurgical Silicon, but Metallurgical Silicon contains a high level of Boron and Phosphorus and other impurities. it is simply not good enough for Solar Cell
manufacturing.
