- Solar panels or collectors fitted to your roof. There are 2 main types of collector:
- Flat plate systems - which are comprised of an absorber plate with a transparent cover, or
- Evacuated tube systems - which are comprised of a row of glass tubes each containing an absorber plate feeding into a manifold which transports the heated fluid.
- A heat transfer system including pump and controller - uses the collected heat to heat water;
- Hot water cylinder - stores the hot water that is heated during the day and supplies it for use later.
Solar panels, once installed will provide free hot water for you and your family. These are now grant aided with 80% (approx) of the cost of the panels being covered by the Greener Homes Scheme run
by SEI. Aside from giving free hot water these panels will contribute to improving your homes building energy rating and reducing you overall energy costs.
