The system comes fully equipped with several built-in safety features that provide complete protection for the transformer at all times. Real time monitoring of moisture levels is provided by the innovative moisture meter incorporated into the system.

• We don't need to tell you that there are many Transformer Dryout Systems available on the market today. The most common technology being traditional Heat Vacuum method of drying out a transformer. With this process, apart from being extremely expensive due to the large plant required, it is usually necessary to take the transformer off-line. Another problem with this approach is that moisture is generally only removed from the oil. A few weeks after the heat vacuum plant has moved off site, moisture from the windings has migrated back into the oil - once again reaching equilibrium and effectively leaving you with a transformer that's only been marginally dried out.

  The Velcon TDS5 makes use of a totally different approach altogether. A major benefit of the TDS5 is that it is designed to work whilst the transformer is under load, allowing the transformer to effectively dry out with safe, round the clock, unattended operation. In fact the system relies on the energised transformer to drive the moisture out of the windings and into the surrounding insulating oil. As the moisture is released into the oil, it is removed by the Superdri cartridges which gently and continuously dry the oil to less than 10ppm. Another major benefit of the system is that it does not affect dissolved gasses in the oil and also does not remove oil oxidation inhibitors.
