current transformers

Current transformers, which are used for the electrically isolated detection and measurement of the alternative currents, are made of a toroidal core with one winding with a high number of turns and a center hole. The conductor to be measured is inserted through this hole and this represents the primary winding as one turn. The current in the coil that we call it secondary winding, is proportional to the current through the conductor. Our first version which consists of a ferrite core with a single winding, can be used for the current detection with primary currents up to typically 10A, such as detecting short circuits. The frequency range for sinusoidal currents is approximately between 50Hz and 100kHz. Second version consists of tape wound core that has less production tolerance of the core itself, so it can be used for more precised measurements of current. It also has high levels of saturation and limits of the primary current up to approximately 300A with a frequency range of 5Hz to 100kHz for sinusoidal currents.
