TRANCOR H high-permeability electrical steels offer an outstandingdegree of grain orientation. The result is far lower core loss thanpossible with conventional grain-oriented electrical steels. These"super-oriented" materials provide higher permeability, particularly athigher operating inductions, and the potential for producing less noisycore structures due to lower magneto-striction. Laser scribing TRAN-CORH electrical steels provides additional beneficial core loss reductionsthrough domain refinement. A highly focused Nd:YAG laser beam is usedto rapidly scan material surfaces perpendicular to the rollingdirection. They are available in grades H-O and H-1.
