The dry type instrument transformers have been a great success specially in heavily polluted surroundings. Epoxy cast instrument transformers are also available for outdoor application in special type of resins known as cycloaliphatic resins.TestingEach Instrument transformer is subjected to all routine tests as per applicable standards and customer specifications. The instrument transformers are frequently tested for type tests at approved laboratories for design validation and fault withstand capability.Note: Various Indoor and Outdoor models have been tested for fault level up to 31.5 KA for 3 - Sec.The windings are designed to meet dynamic and thermal stresses. Coils are wound with electrolytic high conductivity synthetic enameled copper conductors. Coils are dried in electric ovens. Rigid connection support and coil clamping are provided to withstand high short circuit currents. The complete core coils assembly is cast in resin, which has got high dielectric, mechanical and heat dissipation qualities.SKIPPER has successfully utilized the advantages of epoxy cast instrument transformers for outdoor applications up to 66KV. In such cases no paper and oil insulation is required and hence no periodic oil filtration or maintenance requirements. The specially designed instrument transformer are cast in epoxy and put into hermetically sealed enclosures.Manufacturing RangeCurrent and voltage transformers up to 33KV are made to suit both indoor and outdoor applications. The indoor current and voltage transformers up to medium voltages are preferred in resin casting over oil filled ones in terms of compactness, sturdiness and are maintenance free. SKIPPER has expertise and infrastructure to manufacture instrument transformers up to 33KV in indoor and 66KV in outdoor applications.CONSTRUCTION The core is built up from non-ageing cold rolled grain oriented silicon steel laminations, coated with heat resistant insulation. Laminations are annealed to reduce losses. Current transformer core is made from continuous lamination wound as a toroid.
