DNK,RNV & SNV Series are Metallized polypropylene Capacitors designed primarily for use in Motor run applications. They are also use in AC power supplies. The low dielectric losses, the inherent "Self-healing" property, and the greatly increased micofarad per unit volume make these designs ideal where reliaility and small size are essential SpecificationCapacitance : 1~ 50? Capacitance tolerance : -5% to +10% Rated frequency : 50Hz and/or 60Hz Rated voltage : 220~500VAC Maximum ambient temperature : -25 to +80 Withstanding Voltage : Test Portion Test Voltage(Effective value)[VAC] Applying time Between terminals mutually Rated Voltage X 1.75 (60 sec) Between terminals(tied together)and case Rated Voltage X 2+1000 (Min.1500VAC) (60 sec) Insulation resistance : Between the collected terminals and the case, 2000? or greater Dissipation factor : 0.1% Max, at60Hz, 20 or 85 Seal ability : There shall be no oil leakage even if left for 1 hour under a constant Temperature of 85 Internal protection : Pressure Sensitive interrupter Fault current : 10,000AFC * Product SafetyIn certain instances capacitor failures may result in case rupture due to gases generated internally. Since the elimination of the PCB impregnants for environmental reasons all the impregnants now in use are classified as combustible and carry a NFPA(National Fire Protection Association)designation of type III B. Liquids with this classification, such as mineral oil and bland oil have been in use for over 40 years with excellent safety records. Even if rupture does occur, the probability of fire is still low as the right conditions of temperature and source of ignition(i.e.an electrical arc) must be present. In order to reduced the possibility of capacitor rupture the Advanced Technology Inc. Now incorporates an internal protection mechanism into DNK,RNV anal SNV series capacitors where the construction and application conditions allow. The listings of each family of capacitors indicate if internal protection is included or not. The protective mechanism is the Pressure Sensitive Interrupter.* Pressure Sensitive InterrupterThe Pressure Sensitive Interrupter or PSI was developer by the Advanced Technology Inc. It senses the build-up of pressure with in the capacitor and interrupts the internal connections taking the capacitor out of the circuit before rupture can occur, as shown in Figure. The fault current is the maximum current that the circuit can provide if the capacitor becomes a short circuit. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CAPACITOR USER TO DETERMINE WHAT THE AVAILABLE FAULT CURRENT IS. * Mounting Considerations for The PSIThe proper operation of the pressure sensitive interrupter(PSI) requires that the cover be allowed to bulge without restraint. If this expansion is restricted it may interfere with the PSI mechanism. The following should be considered when mounting capacitors containing the PSI. The must be a clearance of at least 0.5 inches(12.7mm) between the tops of the terminals and/or the assembled wire connector and a plane perpendicular to the capacitor terminals. In addition, care should be taken to ensure that there is still adequate electrical clearance between the terminals and the overhead surface after PSI operation. In certain cases capacitors are mounted with the top of the capacitor case resting on the chassis and the terminals protruding through the chassis. Care must be taken to see that the cut-out in the chassis is large enough. ?top
