INTRODUCTION
This application note describes the use and handling of AMCOM's
AM407024WM-Q4-R HBT MMIC power amplifiers. The amplifier is housed in a
16-pin low cost surface mountable plastic package (QFN4x4). The MMIC can be
handled by standard pick and place equipment.
ELECTRICAL SCHEMATIC
Figure 1 shows the detailed schematic and pin assignment of AM407024WM-Q4
MMIC power amplifiers. External DC decoupling and filtering components are
added to ensure stability of the amplifier and to prevent any possible spurious
signal due to noisy supplies. A good ground is required for maintaining stability.
The following table describes the pin assignment of the amplifier:

BIAS CONSIDERATIONS
The amplifier is designed to operate within specifications when biased with collector voltage/current as specified in
datasheet. The absolute maximum rating for voltage, current, or power dissipation must not be exceeded. The
MMIC collector should be biased at Vc = +4V for all 3 collector biases and all 3 base biases should be biased
around 4.2V to get a total (No RF) collector current around 230mA (Icq). The total current is adjusted using the
base bias voltage.
