Advantage of FSLCD(CLCD):

The field sequential liquid crystal display (FSLCD) has several advantages such as a high transmittance due to no use of color filter and high color reproductivity because of use of LED backlight for a light source. To realize FSLCD, however, a response time of the LCD must be below 5ms for 60 Hz frequency of applied field. In this paper, we have optimized structure of electrically controlled birefringence (ECB) cell for fast response time and then achieved fast response time under 5ms in all grey scales. In addition, we have studied the film compensation to improve the operating voltage and viewing angle for the ECB cell. By optimizing the condition of the discotic and triacetyl cellulose (TAC) films, operating voltage decreases down to 5V and viewing angle was improved greatly over 160
