At Conic Systems we have developed such a system where a single master drives more than 100 slaves over the RS 485 bus. The distance between the master and its slaves could be to any extent with repeaters. The figure above gives you an illustration of a Master Slave Digital Clock system.

The Master Slave Clock system becomes an essential requirement when more than one clock is installed at any location. The basic idea being time synchronization. It is highly likely that if such a system does not exist, each clock would show at least marginally different time, which is unacceptable. Hence comes the need of a Master clock, a highly precise clock which over a communication channel can maintain one time on all the clocks connected to it. The master dictates accurate time to its slaves every sec or minute or even hourly.
