The Contact Velocity Sensor detects vibration speed by contacting the test sample. The tip of the probe is made of cemented carbide. By contacting the test sample, the probe tip detects and transmits vibrations to the coil. The coil attached to the probe supported by parallel springs oscillates in a magnetic field, generating a voltage proportional to the velocity of vibration. The probe force is very low to allow use of the sensor to measure vibrations of miniature bearings.
