The M-Switch will work with any sort of electrical switch: momentary, SPST, reed, relay, N/O, N/C, etc. So if you have your own switch design, it can be used as well. It can simply be an open/closed ground of the provided 5v signal source, or if more convenient, an open/closed signal injection of 3-24v. For example:

The different ways that the M-Switch can be used are limited only by imagination.
Interfaces any kind of mechanical or electronic switch to an iDEN Java application. An ASCII serial port character is sent to the application which will uniquely indicate each make or break of the switch. (Debounce is built-in.) The Java app can do anything it wishes with each event in real time, such as simply recording it, and/or transmitting events wirelessly to a web host.
