These sensors developed by BioNano can be widely used to study the biological functions of biomembranes, especially for drug screening study. Carbon nanotubes, consisting of cylindrical graphene sheets with nanometer diameter (5 nm to 800 nm) possess high electrical conductivity, high chemical stability, and extremely high mechanical strength and modulus. Carbon nanotubes possess flexibility in its electrical behaviour, either as metals or semiconductors, depending on the architecture of the atomic structure. BioNano makes well-aligned multi-wall carbon nanotubes as nanosensors/nanobiosensors that can be used for detection of trace biological samples in therapeutic drugs and patient samples in the healthcare and bioprocessing industry; presence of genetically-modified foods in the food processing and manufacturing industry; and monitoring of contaminants in the water treatment and environmental monitoring sectors. |
