Optical Position SensorsThis highly-accurate, two-axis position sensor is commonly used with a laser to make straightness or alignment measurements. Some of our customers many applications include:Aligning a CNC mill to +/- 0.001" over 6 feet of travel Measuring the flatness of a glass surface Aligning MRI machines at a medical products manufacturer Measuring the degree of perpendicularity of a DVD lens set on the manufacturing floor Using the sensor as an absolute encoder for a miniature, motorized 2-axis translation stage An LCD display indicates position to an accuracy of 0.001" with a resolution of 0.0001" over a range of 0.4" (10 mm) in two axes. Internal software filters the effects of incandescent and fluorescent lights. Data is also available on a serial port.
