The need for the electronic control of the telecommunication shafts occurred due to the repeated and large-scale thefts of the cables placed inside the shafts, as well as to the large misuse of the cable canals by internet providers and cable TV operators. Unfortunately there is also the rising threat of the terrorists attacking the means of telecommunication. Everything mentioned above made Majkic Company from Indjija, together with Telecom Serbia, develop and produce a system for the electronic control of telecommunication shafts.The electronic protection includes an inductive detector, a switchboard, an interface unit and a central computer. The notion of a sensor is incorporated in this case and it represents the connection between the switchboard and the inductive cover opening detector.The sensors are used for detecting the cover opening and informing the central computer. Besides this function, the sensors can measure the water depth in the shaft (with an additional detector).Central computer provides placing all network activity data into permanent memory and communication with the sensors through the interface units. Central computer has contact with all interface units with fixed IP address by means of LAN network (TCP\IP).It provides the insight into the shaft system condition from any point in the network with obligatory logging based on passwords. Giving commands and changing any system data is performed by the administrator (multiplex protection) and it is usually performed from the Centre. All logging and system change data are memorized and can be later analyzed. Interface unit is intended for the communication with the sensors, as well as for powering them. On the other hand, it provides the communication with the central computer. The interface unit is connected to the central computer by means of LAN network (TCP\IP protocole). The interface unit receives data from the sensors, processes them and then directs them to the central computer and vice versa. It informs the sensor of data reception (confirms the reception of sensor data). It detects the power loss and it starts the procedure of automatically calling for the sensors on the power reestablishment. All the network events are directed towards the central computer and memorized together with the occurrence time. With the help of the electronic control we have protected 200 shafts in Belgrade within the ATC Krunski Venac. The system has proved very efficient so far.
