#DESCRIPTION
The AM-OMNI-RPR/2C Dual Return Path Receiver Module is used in the OmniStar platform for applications requiring a universal compact solution to advanced upstream video and data traffic. The RPR/2C
is capable of being controlled and monitored both locally, by use of the front panel features, and remotely through the OmniStar Control Module and Headend Control Software. Each receiver half can
be disabled independently to eliminate nuisance alarms generated in the past when only one receiver was used in the RPR/2.
#APPLICATION
Return Path data/video is required to support upstream information transmission from either traditional node locations, or hub sites. The use of hub sites identifies the potential need for
frequency stacking or up-conversion and thus requires more upstream bandwidth. Deployment of status monitoring services and interactive services such as VOD, NVOD, telephony and PCS all require
Return Path Receivers for further processing of upstream information.
The AM-OMNI-RPR/2C provides test points for received optical power and RF output level for each detector path. Manual gain control for variable output level is also available for user
configuration. An Optical AGC mode allows the RPR/2C to maintain constant RF output level. The RPR/2C has two digital control lines. one for each receiver. These lines interface with the
OMNI-SWITCH module for redundancy control and indicate loss of optical input or failure in the RF path.
