Tap Position Transducer

Tap Position Transducer

This transducer is used for measurement of the mechanical position of an external device or equipment. The mechanical position of the external device (Transformer Tap Change Gear) is converted to a resistance value with a potentiometer or a resistor network by a rotary switch arrangement. The output ( which is a load independent current or voltage) is proportional to the ratio of the resistance value at a position (tap) to the maximum resistance value in the network [i.e. resistance value at the maximum position (tap)]. The output can be connected directly to indicating instruments, data transmission system, Computer systems or SCADA systems.
