Malaysia is an Islamic country and for Muslims, foods to be taken have to be Halal. Pork meat is one of the most prohibited foods for Muslims. Conventionally, foods have to be sent to the
laboratory to analyze the presence of pork content. The process takes weeks and is very tedious. With the development of pork detection (Halal) strip, the analysis can be simplified. One
can easily detect the presence of pork in minutes and this will be very useful to the Muslims enforcement in determining the safety consumption of the food. The project is currently with
collaboration of Biodevice Technology (Japan) and Tanaka Medicals (Japan).
