Hot Forging Lubricant Oil and die oil

Pre-caution must be taken before using the graphite lube.
Electronic sensors are installed in the forging machine and spray line to monitor the operating conditions. The sensor circuit is very  sensitive and has positive and negative poles which operate independently. Graphite may disperse to contaminate them during work and often makes the  sensor broken with the troubles of voltage and ampere error and shot-circuit.

Pre-caution must be taken before using the graphite lube.

Difference between W-200, W-400 and BW-100
BW-100 is the water-soluble graphite lube containing several kinds of additives. The W-200 and W-400 are the water-soluble, eco-friendly lubes made of natural resin and silica gel, and generate no dust during the forging work.

W-200 and W-400 are easily washable.
You can easily wash the lubes off the lube-stained skin or clothes.

The forged products mostly stick to the top or bottom die. This is caused when the die release lube is not fully sprayed. In this case, the die release lube should be sprayed once more on the sticky side of the die.

Products may often jump out of the mold during forging due to too strong releasing effect.
To settle this problem, it is required to reduce the spray amount of the die release lube.

The die release lube should be highly dispersible and reducing dregs.
Otherwise, the tank pipe line and spray nozzle will be clogged up.

It is important to adjust the pH of the forging lube.
Forging machines are made of steel and nonferrous metals (cooper and aluminum). Steel is general corroded with acid, while the nonferrous metals is prone to corrosion with alkali.

Letters should be clearly legible on the forged product.
Some letters or numbers can be inscribed on the forged product. If the coated film of the lubes is too thick or unsuitable, it fills up the groove of the letters or numbers.

The rapider, the better the applicant effect
When the die is heated some die release lubes evaporate as if water is sprayed on the heated stove. If the die release lube is scattered without being applied onto the die, it has no application effect. Oil may be added to prevent such scattering. Oil effectively helps the die release lube to be wetted onto the die.
Moreover the strong explosion of the oil helps the die release. But such a strong explosion causes serious crack to the heated die. Oil or a poor quality of die release lube causes the crack on the die, which looks the capillary vessel as follows.

Forging machines are mainly divided into hammer, press and up-set type. Some die release lubes are very effective for the hammer type forging while not working for the press type one. It's because the bigger impact delivered to the die and the product during the hammer type forging. The impact plays the role of the die release. The high quality of product should be effective with weak impact during the press type forging.

The die release lube should have both-sided lubricating effect. The die release lube is originally liquid before sprayed, and coated on the product when it is dried by heat after sprayed. The die release lube should have both-sided lubricant effect as such.

Stickiness of the die release
The die release lube has to be removed from the die immediately after forging. The die should look glossy immediately after forging as if it was applied with oil. If the die release lube remains on the surface or corner of the die, the feed in may occur.

The forging lube should have an excellent application effect.
The temperature of the mold normally varies by 20% to 30% immediately before and after the forging even if it is kept within the normal range. And the application effect should be kept stable under such temperature change.

The die gets gradually hotter with the continued work, and only the die release lube keeps it from being heated. The die is generally pre-heated between 180(or 356?F) and 230(or 446?F) during the hot forging, while the forged product is heated up to 1,200(or 2192?F), which delivers heats of several hundred centigrades to the die. It is desired to keep the die between 250(or 482?F) and 290(or 554?F) to the continue the work. If the die is heated above this level, it began to be destructed. That's why the forging lube should have an excellent cooling effect.

POSSIBLE PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE DIE RELEASE LUBES

A. Die damage by burst, crack, twist and side wear.
B. Irregular size of forged products
C. Feed in
D. Structural deterioration
E. Irregular vertical, horizontal spray angle
F. inaccurate spray timing adjustment

While effort has been exerted to meet the above described requirements, the following troubles have been found:

1. Extends the die's life
2. Keeps the structure and surface of gorged products
3. Maintains the stable mass-production system
4. Prevents products of poor quality
5. Develops the green products of forging lube which does no harm to human body
6. The forging lube should be easily removable from the mold surface by washing.

The forging machines have been rapidly developed to produce a variety of forged products. And it is required to develop the forging lubes to meet the following requirements:

Since workers are exposed to the die release lubes during the forging process, they necessarily touch and breathe them with their skins and respiratory organs. Accordingly you should consider that your workers might need to work in this environment for several years or several decades. We, KOREALUBE, have developed the products with excellent qualities for the health of workers based on our intensive experience in the field of forging over the last 35 years. We proudly recommend you to use our products at your ease. If you have questions or need further information, we will be pleased to visit you for help anywhere you are.

We, KOREALUBE CO., LTD. Have been producing and selling the products listed above in the local and overseas market since 1970 and we have especially developed and offered the hot/warm forging lubricants such as BW-100, W-200 and W-400 as our main products.
The experiences of domestic customers that have used our products since 1982 shows that they are clean and green products, and moreover it doesn't cause any disease such as respiratory disease, headache, stench (due to ammonia gas) and skin trouble.
Our products, W-200 and W-400, were developed based on the harmless additives extracted from natural resin.
