AIR SCRUBBER

Premier Industries, Inc.GeneralThe process of cleaning dirty air by "wet scrubbing" is a dependable method. The unit illustrated below is a generic concept of a configuration designed to trap particulate and clean the air of smoke and fumes. It is highly effective in most applications where heavy smoke or fumes with entrained particulate is to be cleaned. The Scrubber is comprised of a stainless steel housing containing a "V" shaped sump to hold water. A blower with very high static pressure capability (usually 10" or greater TSP). Rigid media to filter the air and a drift eliminator stage to prevent raw moisture entrainment.Air Scrubber Concept Drawing(Single Intake)The sequence of operation is to pick up the polluted air via a pick-up hood connected by ducting to the scrubber on the intake side. The polluted air is pulled into the scrubber at a high velocity which causes the heavy particles in the air stream to impinge into the water. This heavy particulate settles to the bottom of the sump. The air velocity causes a high degree of turbulence of the water causing an effective mixing of the polluted air with the water. The displaced water is pulled into the rigid filter media effecting a further filtration of the air stream. The rigid filter media is capable of filtering particulate down to 10 micron size particles. The drift eliminator stage traps moisture carry over to reduce any moisture entrainment to a near zero level. An activated charcoal stage (not shown) can be included to further trap odors and expel cleaner air to the exhaust. The air discharged by the blower is connected to the outside of the structure or to a further stage of air purification if re-circulated back into the structure.Access doors and panels are provided for media replacement and maintenance.Clean out drains are 2" FPT couplers welded into the sump to facilitate sump drain and cleaning.Contact Premier Industries, Inc. for additional information regarding this application.Air Scrubber Concept Drawing(Multiple Intake)GeneralIllustration below describes a pure wet scrubber process typical of a welding shop or multiple intake stations.Sequence of operations for this type scrubber design is to process polluted air from multiple work stations. The polluted air is pulled through an initial water spray nozzle bank. The air flow continues through a baffle system changing the direction of the polluted air to increase the efficiency of the process. Solids and heavy particulate are trapped by the water. Further air cleaning occurs by mixing with water vapor.A drift eliminator stage is employed to reduce moisture entrainment.Blower and motor is selected to handle total static pressure as required.Exhaust air is ducted to the outside of the structure or to further air purification processes if air is to be recirculated and reused.Contact Premier Industries, Inc. for additional information regarding this application.
