These declines have taken prices back to the levels seen at the middle of last year for most obsolete scrap grades like No. 1 heavy melt steel and shredded scrap, as well as biting into price tags for most industrial steel scrap.
Ferrous scrap prices have plunged more than $300 a ton this month, matching September's swoon.
